CO2 capture and storage (CCS) has the potential to account for 20% of global greenhouse gas reduction. A number of initiatives are underway to encourage widespread deployment. Pilot plants are being run around the world and several countries and federations are already establishing directives and regulations to guide the development of these emerging technologies.

Event European Conference on CCS Research, Development and Demonstration

Main theme The conference will focus on research and technological development on CO2 capture and storage within relevant on-going projects under EU’s framework programmes. The conference will give an overview of the different projects, their objectives and main results. More in-depth technological presentations will be given in thematic sessions on Post-combustion, Pre-combustion, Oxy-fuel combustion and Transport and Storage. It should be relevant to researchers, industry and other stakeholders, also those not connected to framework programme projects. The conference is organised by the DECARBit project in co-operation with the CAESAR and CESAR projects.

Event Third Dutch Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) conference

Main theme It is the fist time the conference is held in English, in order to enable international experts to join the meeting. The programme will be opened by Ruud Lubbers, chairman of the Rotterdam Climate Initiative Council and former Prime Minister of The Netherlands. During the conference the TNO-CATO post-combustion pilot plant at the site of the E.ON coal-fired power plant on the Maasvlakte will be officially opened by the Dutch Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, Jacqueline Cramer.
